🏗️ Smart Construction: Hyundai E&C Tests Water-Spraying Drones for Safer Demolition
Hyundai E&C has completed an on-site demonstration of water-spraying drones at the Gwacheon Jugong Apartment Complexes 8·9 Reconstruction Project, assessing their performance, flight stability and operational integration in an actual demolition environment.

Demolition sites must simultaneously control fugitive dust and protect workers from risks such as slips, electric shock and collisions with heavy equipment. By operating remotely, the drones minimize worker exposure, including in high-rise or structurally unstable areas where conventional spraying can be difficult.
During the demonstration, the drones delivered 50 liters of water per minute within a radius of up to 12–15 meters under windless conditions. Direct connections to power cables and water hoses removed constraints related to flight time and water capacity, while spray positioning could be adjusted in real time as dust-generating areas shifted.
Compared with water trucks or stationary suppression equipment, the system is expected to provide more flexible dust control while improving safety and operational efficiency.
Hyundai E&C plans to expand the technology across additional sites and demolition processes and actively adopt smart construction technologies on-site to build a safe and sustainable construction environment, supported by AI, robotics, automation and digital technology research at the HMG Construction Technology Research Institute.
