🔋 Energy: Samsung C&T Completes Korea's First Off-Grid Green Hydrogen Facility texte
Samsung C&T has completed Korea’s first off-grid green hydrogen production facility in Gimcheon, marking a structural shift in how hydrogen can be produced and integrated into energy systems.
The facility operates entirely on renewable energy, using an 8.3MW solar power system with no reliance on external electricity grids. Through a 10MW water electrolysis system, it produces approximately 0.6 tons of green hydrogen per day, exceeding 230 tons annually.
This hydrogen is distributed locally, particularly to hydrogen vehicle charging stations, directly contributing to the expansion of clean transport infrastructure and regional hydrogen ecosystems.

Samsung C&T delivered the full EPC scope, including:
-
Solar generation system
-
Electrolyzers
-
Hydrogen production and storage facilities
The company will also oversee operations and maintenance, ensuring performance stability while continuing to build technical expertise.
Strategically, this project supports:
-
Localization of electrolyzer and operational technologies
-
Development of national strategic technologies
-
Expansion into global hydrogen markets
Samsung C&T is actively targeting international opportunities, particularly in the Middle East and Australia, while also expanding domestically into hydrogen and ammonia storage and supply infrastructure.
The initiative strengthens its position across the entire hydrogen value chain, with green hydrogen and ammonia identified as central pillars of its long-term eco-friendly energy business.
