🧠AI Infrastructure & Investment: Tech Majors and Indian Groups Pledge Massive AI Investments at India Summit
Senior executives from leading global AI firms and Indian industrial groups gathered at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where an array of large-scale investment commitments were announced toward building the country’s AI infrastructure ecosystem. The summit brought global tech leaders together with heads of state and government, positioning India as a strategic focal point for AI development in the Global South.

At the center of the announcements was Reliance Industries Limited and its telecom unit Jio, which pledged approximately $110 billion over seven years to build AI and data infrastructure, including multi-gigawatt AI-ready data centers and a nationwide compute backbone.
India’s Adani Group separately committed $100 billion by 2035 to construct renewable energy-powered AI data centers, part of a broader $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem expected to catalyze related industries such as server manufacturing and sovereign cloud platforms.
Global technology companies also stepped up. Summit participants and related announcements highlighted major planned investments:

Microsoft outlined intentions to invest up to $50 billion by 2030 in AI infrastructure and digital skills development across the Global South, with India as a core focus.

Google confirmed a $15 billion AI hub initiative in Visakhapatnam, aimed at building a gigawatt-scale compute campus and international subsea connectivity to accelerate enterprise and research access to high-performance infrastructure.

Partnerships between OpenAI and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) were also announced, planning the construction of local data centers tailored for sovereign AI workloads.

These commitments are set against India’s broader AI strategy, which includes expanding national GPU compute capacity, building sovereign AI models and platforms, and democratizing AI access through affordable compute and digital infrastructure. Summit discussions and announcements underscored the importance of local language AI models, ethical governance, and inclusive AI adoption.
The scale of the pledges reflects India’s ambition to shift from a consumer market to a foundational AI infrastructure hub, attracting both global capital and strategic partnerships. While actual deployment will depend on execution and global economic conditions, the summit marks a pivotal moment in India’s AI trajectory and highlights the intensifying global competition for AI leadership, particularly between established tech hubs and emerging markets.
